When a Wound Becomes Love

Life is made of cycles.

It moves circularly, and the spiral movement gives depth and infinity to the finite and transient.

Some cycles, behaviors, and ways of life, when completed, bring relief. Some, on the other hand, bring sorrow and longing.

Despite lots of evidence of the natural cycles circular flow (e.g., spring, summer, autumn and winter), the tendency of our consciousness, when narrowed by some experiences, is to undergo and perceive certain phenomena in a linear way.

This often happens with that chronic injury that we have slowly experienced over the years until it has become something we call a wound. Some of us have been dealing with those wounds and the defense systems that arose from them for a long time. They go spirally and deeply - it often seems that there is no end, that they will always startle us around a corner, ambush us from ditches and bushes. And we get used to living with them, and the insight that we will visit those places for the rest of our lives slowly settles in us. That's it.

However, there is a moment when someone who grieves after a lost person, for example, realizes that is crying not only out of pain, but also out of love. Then the switch moves to some other frequencies.

There is also a moment when you realize that a wound is just a place where love stopped flowing. That a wound is a place of a missed opportunity to love - a missed place of love. A place where love wasn’t watered or could not grow, where the thread that connects all the galaxies, inside and outside of us, broke. We no longer look at the wound as just a place of injury, from the victim’s perspective, at first asking ourselves constantly, and later, once in a while: "How could you?"

Our attitude changes, something in us flips that switch that makes a shift in awareness. I no longer blame my father for being busy and not paying attention, my mother for being controlling or not being there the way I needed her, and so on. I begin to look at those places of lack and emptiness as places where love could not live, be seen and felt.

Wounds become places where we mourn lost love. Why didn't our souls align in this life, in this space and time, enough to vibrate on the string of love? Do we have to meet again to make it work next time?

Then karma and future lives do not become a burden, but another opportunity to love.

We come to insight that we could not have someone's love. And then we realize that we could have had some love of someone else,  but we didn't know how.

And so, the wound becomes a milestone of love, a sign on the road and a guide in cosmic journeys. What used to shrink and narrow us becomes actually something that expands and fills us with mystery, curiosity, eternal light and vitality.

I am what I am. I am love. And that is the whole purpose of earthly and heavenly existence. Everything that happens in between, in those soul cycles, are the things that are meant to intensify, expand and rediscover love.

There is no other purpose in life. Challenges are there to remind us of the purpose to love and be loved.

This is where everything begins and ends, or rather, continues.

We remember love, learn to love again, let someone love us (some of us spend good amount of life fighting the closeness, not allowing someone to matter to us and making sure we don’t mean much to them).

And then you realize that, in fact, nothing has an end.

Not even the attempt to love.
